The Vision

Gather North is part mini-conference, part weekend vacay for women who make the web. You’ll escape from the city to a relaxing, upscale country inn to connect with old friends and make new ones. Be inspired and challenged, and return to your work recharged.

vision

We intentionally limit the number of spaces available to foster a small group environment (our last event sold out quickly). Expect to connect with each other and build meaningful connections that go beyond just exchanging business cards. You don’t want to miss this.

The Venue

millcroft

Gather North 2016 will take place at the Millcroft Inn & Spa, in the rolling hills of Caledon, just an hour outside Toronto. The century-old knitting mill has been restored as a gorgeous inn with onsite restaurant, acres of hiking trails, award-winning spa, and conference facility. The recent addition of outdoor hot springs (complimentary for Gather North attendees) makes the Millcroft the perfect destination.

Keynote Sessions

sessions

Keynote session details are still being determined for Gather North 2016. We are hand-picking amazing speakers who will delight, inspire, and challenge attendees. Session topics will be broad in appeal and be relevant to women who build the web, without being specifically technical in nature (you won’t see presentations about javascript frameworks at Gather North). For an idea of the kind of sessions we curate, see this list from Gather North’s 2015 event:

Shannon Lee Simmons, Women & Money: Work Your Finances Like a Boss
Marie Poulin, Making Space for Great: Designing an Intentionally Awesome Career
Erin Anacker, Finding Great Clients Starts With Knowing You

New this year: Gather North Lightning Talks

We’re setting aside an hour on the Friday night of Gather North 2016 for attendees to present Lightning Talks. These 5-minute long presentations will light a spark and inspire ideas for other attendees, and will be the perfect kickoff to the Gather North weekend.

We invite all Gather North attendees to consider giving a Lightning Talk presentation, as they are the perfect way to practice professional speaking. Take this opportunity to share something useful or motivational with other Gather North attendees, and build confidence as a speaker in a low-pressure and supportive setting. Lightning Talks can be technical, but must not be overtly promotional in nature.

Lightning Talk proposals must be submitted in advance, and those chosen for presentations will be given coaching and tips beforehand to help improve their presentational skills (if they’d like). Only confirmed Gather North attendees may submit Lightning Talk proposals, and there are only ten spots available for presentations. More details on the submission process for Lightning Talks will be sent to all confirmed Gather North attendees this summer.
